Our first home made barley

We went to search for barley in chinatown and found a chinese shop that sells all different types of chinese herbal ingredients. We bought a pack of barley and rock sugar and asked the aunty to teach us step by step. Even with that, it didn't turn out right. I think we put too much of barley into the pot and by the time we off the fire, there were so little of barley drink left. And it tasted like rice water. Oh well..


Please understand if you dont see picture of the end product, it is either:
1. It doesn't look like what it is suppose to be
2. We are too embarassed to show you the picture
3. We were too busy cleaning up the mess / laughing at the end product / finding out what went wrong, hence we forgotten to take a picture of it

this type of barley is meant to taste like rice water unless u add sugar.
but very good for heatiness or urinary tract infection, this drink.

So which type is the nice nice barley to drink one?? next time i make it 8)
